    One of my favorites is when they tell me they can’t cut a check because the owner is the only signor on the account and he is in Hawaii for the winter.

    My most fond memory of an excuse to date is “the check signer broke his signing arm”. I’m not kidding.

    My favorite (recent) excuse was that the A/P clerk filed the paperwork and forgot to detach the check first.
