I am excited to announce that Eddy Sumar, MBA, CCE, CICP, CEW, is joining the CMA team as Director of Education and Community Outreach. He will work with Jodi Owens and the rest of the Education Team to develop new educational content and programs based on member needs, help credit practitioners achieve their professional development goals through NACM Certification, and expand CMA’s international capability to help a growing number of exporters in California and Nevada. Also, Eddy will reach out to CMA’s local business communities to expose a new generation of job seekers to career opportunities that exist in business credit and customer finance, providing guidance on skills and training that could lead to productive, well-paying jobs that receive little notoriety in most undergraduate and graduate programs.
Eddy has been one of our association’s most active volunteer members in the 14 years I have been at CMA, having instructed dozens of seminars, webinars, and conference programs on a variety of domestic and international credit and collection topics. In 2012, he was recognized for his contributions as he was named CMA’s Instructor of the Year.
More than just a valuable source of information, his vision and passion for business credit have been sources of inspiration for countless credit managers at all career levels. More than just an instructor, he has been a valuable coach and advisor to many credit professionals, paving the way for him to earn CMA’s highest honor, the CMA Credit Executive of the Year Award in 2006. In the years since, Eddy has firmly established himself as one of the best-known and highly regarded leaders within CMA’s membership, on national and international levels. Among Eddy’s other accolades, he received the 2011 CCR Credit Excellence Award in International Credit Management.
I am personally very grateful to Eddy for giving generously of his time and expertise in the field of credit management for the advancement of CMA, its members, and the business communities in Southern California for the past ten years. His tireless pursuit of excellence and the support of others has lead to progress, and his knowledge and passion inspire others to follow. Eddy has inspired many people’s lives and careers, leaving legions of smart, dedicated professionals who continue to make positive contributions to the credit profession. I am proud to have him on our team.
